PATCHWAY 5
Our first away game took us to another wonderful
playing surface that would match any pitch at Frys. The weather was more
inclement and lended itself to better conditions to
play football in. A small positional change was made between Jordan Knight and
Louis Nicholl but the team remained the same as the
week before.
Both teams were evenly matched and created chances
at either end before Patchway scored 2 goals to take
control of the game. The crowd then had to suffer an absolute deluge of rain
and hailstones before the sun returned to dry us out. We gained a deserved
penalty after 25 mins and Bradley Monelle
slotted it home to pull one goal back. However Patchway
scored a third just before half time to make it 3-1.
The half time team talk worked well as sustained
pressure lead to a corner which James Boulton took
and scored direct via a touch from a Patchway
defender. A further shot on target from Mo Bouaziz
lead to the equaliser to bring the game level at 3-3. However, despite the very
best efforts from the whole team to win the game, Patchway
scored 2 late goals to take all 3 points.
A brilliant game to watch and Frys played so well they really did deserve to win. Some great performances from Craig Francis in goal, Oli Randall in midfield, as well as Jordan Knight and Matt Baber. Man of the Match was awarded to Mo Bouaziz for his hard work and discipline.
Great team spirit was shown to come back from 3-1down and the
same performance will be needed week in week out if we are to compete with the
other teams in this division.
